Todo And Podo
These cute boys are 6 years old. They were surrendered to FURS because their owner was leaving the country. The owner said that they were left with a ferret-sitter in the past that had severely neglected them. Todo and Podo had scars around their neck and the skin was raw from embedded collars. Unfortunately this injury was not properly cared for. Also, their nails were grown out so long they could barely walk. They were skin and bones, Todo and Podo could barley even stand. They were severely dehydrated. Once in FURS care, they were taken to our vet. There our vet saw several painful sores in their mouths that made it unbearable for Todo and Podo to eat or drink. They were immediately placed in emergency care and had surgery to remove the sores. When they got out of the hospital they were then placed in a loving foster home. Their recovery was long. It was incredible watching them put on weight, gain strength and begin to play! They were so relived to be free of pain! This happiness was short lived though. One day Podo completely crashed in an Insulinomic state. His fosters hand fed him and got him through it. He is now on Prednisolon twice daily. Todo has been diagnosed with an adrenal tumor. He is now Lupron once a month to control this. Now that they are on their medication, get regular nail trims and the love that they deserve, Todo and Podo are happy ferrets. They run and play. Their foster family checks their mouths regularly to make sure the sores don’t come back and they keep a close eye on Podos blood sugar level.
