Dutchess and Jasper

Dutchess and Jasper Dutchess was surrendered to Ferrets Unlimited at the tender age of 5 and a half. She was a little overweight due to her diet. Her owner fed her mashed potatoes with butter and chocolate covered cherries. Dutchess didn’t have much energy and slept a lot. Her teeth are in need of some serious work. She needs her teeth brushed once a week because of tarter due to her “sweet tooth diet.” She was placed in a wonderful foster home in FURS and was immediately put on a healthy diet. She is a shy little girl but adores her foster dad! Still with all the love, and better food Dutchess still didn’t have the energy a ferret should have. It was clear Dutchess needed a friend…
Jasper a sweet little boy came to FURS after being passed around from family member to family member. Jasper is a 5-year-old boy who loves to have fun! However, more than anything he loves to be held. He craves attention and love. He will just stare out looking for someone. If a ferret could talk he would probably always be yelling “Hey, someone please hold me!”
Jasper came to us almost completely toothless. It appears that someone in his previous home had sawed or cut poor Jaspers teeth right off! The few teeth he has left were covered with tarter. He needs regular brushings to help the teeth he has left. Even with all he has been through, he still wants human companionship.
The day came that Jasper and Dutchess met… and it was love at first sight! Dutchess who never played started to run around after Jasper. They played! It was clear that these two could not be separated. They both need regular tooth-brushings, which their foster dad with FURS is happy to do. They are rarely in separate sleep sacks. They just make each other happy. Dutchess has since gone completely blind due to detached retinas, has an enlarged spleen and is prone to mast cell tumors but that doesn’t stop her!
Due to their past history and medical issues Duchess and Jasper will stay in the care of their foster home for the remainder of their lives. They are comfortable there and get the love and attention they so desperately crave. Their foster dad loves them and says, “They are just awesome ferrets!”
Ferrets Unlimited is committed to the life long care of Duchess and Jasper.
You can sponsor these “awesome” ferrets. Help us help great ferrets like these!
