Emily Rainey

Emily Rainey Emily's past story is a sad one. Her mama Susan Rainey had passed away. Special needs Emily and her sister Azalea were quickly given away before Susan's friends could help the girls. With the support of many and the smart wits of one amazing woman these girls were tracked down within a week and I was only a phone call and two hours away in a moments notice. When I got to these girls it was obvious they were not getting their meds and they were very depressed over the loss of their mama and upheaval of their home. We lost Azalea about 4 months after we rescued them. She had insulinoma, Adrenal disease, and major dental issues. All her needs were addressed. She was put back on Pred, received the deslorelin implant and had her much needed dental surgery. I feel she never did fully recover the loss of her mama and home.
Her sister Emily also has the dreaded adrenal disease and is also fully blind. She was also scared, sad, and mad. She showed this by being aggressive. I was warned she had attitude and she expertly sunk her teeth into my fingers every chance she got. She wanted nothing to do with me. It took months for her to calm down and learn to trust me. Over a year and half later we have come to understand and love each other. I have learned that she has to be woken up a certain way and handled a certain way and because I learned this a scared/sad/mad Emily is now a happy, loving, kissy Emily. Only myself and one other male volunteer/friend can fully trust Emily as she will bestow her insecurities in the form of biting on people she doesn't know. Her current treatment for the adrenal disease is the deslorelin implant. She will need a new on in February 2013.
